There’s this place that we go where no one is judged,
A place where our childrens behaviours are understood,
A place we can go to let our children play,
A place where I don’t have to watch what I say,
There’s this place that we go that feels like our home,
A place I can have a cup of tea and a moan,
A place where our children don’t follow the trends,
A place where families all become friends,
There’s this place that we go to run by volunteers,
A place manned by special needs parents and their peers,
A place where those parents give up their free time,
A place where each child is given the chance to shine.
There’s this place that we go to, it’s called ‘The Group’,
Run by Emma and Sam (and the rest of the troop),
A place that I think deserves recognition,
A place born from those parents ambition.
‘The Group’ is a youth group for disabled children and their siblings,
“The Group’ was a start of whole new beginnings,
‘The Group’ makes the families all feel at ease,
‘The Group’; a place where my girls smiles are guaranteed.
