The D word.

You don’t need a diagnosis to be loved
But a diagnosis can bring hate,
You can’t get help without diagnosis,
But the professionals make you wait.
You shouldn’t keep on asking,
But you can see there’s something there,
You wouldn’t want a label,
If people didn’t stare.

You don’t need a diagnosis to help you,
But a diagnosis can help your child,
You can’t make people understand yet,
Because diagnosis takes a while,
You wouldn’t choose to label,
Because you want your child to be the same,
But it would never be accepted,
If the condition had no name.
